The Master of Professional Psychology is a pathway for those wanting to become a registered Psychologist. This course follows the completion of a four-year APAC accredited sequence in Psychology and is a route to general registration that requires 5 years of study and 1 year of supervised professional practice (5+1 pathway).
Students studying the Master of Professional Psychology will have an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the core competencies required to practise as a general psychologist. Two of the pathways towards registration to practise as a general psychologist include:
The 4+2 pathway: Four years of study and two years of supervised professional practice (applications will not be received by the Psychology Board of Australia after 30 June 2022 for this pathway
The 5+1 pathway: Five years of study and a Master of Professional Psychology and one year of supervised professional practice.
This course follows the 5-1 pathway.
